Wet Herds

Contract and performance

Art in General, NY, NY

February – April, 2016

Wet Herds was part of Shifters, curated by Kristin Chappa at Art In General, an exhibition of commissions, projects, and performances brought together a group of contemporary artists whose practices engaged with language. Works investigated how various systems of communication and their attendant histories and ideologies were being reconsidered through the lens of gender. The project spoke to theories arguing that language as a social agreement is not passive or fixed, but rather, it possesses the potential to reimagine structures of power.

Wet herds included a contract, matches (take-away), and invitation to join Wet Herds, a failed collaboration between writers, sex workers, and MFA debt holders. A member of Wet Herds was present at the opening, educating the audience on the rights of sex workers and recruiting for our failed cause.
